This client got in touch with Collier Roofing about some complex refurbishment work that needed doing on their home. As well as cosmetic issues, our client needed a solution that would minimise the need for ventilation in their roof. Our highly experienced team took the time to listen carefully to the client’s requirements, and worked closely with them to devise an efficient plan for improving the breathability and appearance of their roofing.
Clean, slate-like tiles
Our client requested that we create a sleek, slate-like look for their roof – without the expense of using the real material. We replaced their current tiling with concrete Edgemere tiles, which interlock to provide the smart, attractive effect of slate. The addition of the new tiles immediately tidied up the appearance of the property, and offered the client an encouraging glimpse of what it would look like at the end of the project.
Intelligent, breathable materials
Our team opted for breathable felt membrane treated battens for this project. This solution means that a minimal amount of ventilation is required to keep the tiles intact and free from condensation. We also implemented a new, top-of-the-range dry ventilated ridge system to the ridge of the roof to ensure that it would be completely weathertight. This solution worked perfectly in accordance with the new concrete tiles. As it was so quick to install, we were able to use our time effectively and resourcefully.
Longer-lasting, low-maintenance materials
To remove the hassle of cosmetic maintenance, we chose to use white UPVC fascias and soffits to frame the new roof. Unlike the classic timber equivalent, these are guaranteed a long life and ensure the client won’t have to worry about unnecessary upkeep, repainting and so on. In contrast to the white fascias and soffits, we also installed black PVC guttering and downpipes to the property, giving it a professional, neat appearance, and allowing water to drain easily from the roof.
